Wain Homes secures 92-home approval on appeal

Wain Homes has secured planning permission to build 92 homes in Derbyshire, after appealing an initial decision from the local council.

This follows a seven day planning inquiry after the local planning committee refused permission for the homes at Dinting Vale, Glossop, last year.

With construction now set to go ahead, these homes will range from one-bedroom apartments to four-bedroom family homes. The development will be accessed via a new junction on the A57.

The developer will also provide £970,000 in planning obligation sums that will contribute to local amenities and biodiversity.

“This site meets all the criteria for sustainable housing, being close to local amenities of shops and schools and within walking distance of the train station which has frequent services into Manchester Piccadilly,” said Richard Chamberlain, managing director at Wain Homes (North West).

“The delays were frustrating as there is a need for high quality new housing in the area to serve local people and we are pleased with the inspector’s swift decision."
